BENGALURU: Former Deputy Chief Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan on Sunday exuded confidence that the party will announce the leader of the opposition on Monday. “The leader of Opposition will be announced by tomorrow”, he said.

Speaking at a press conference, Ashwanth Narayan said, “There’s no competition in the party for any post, all that is in the Congress. We don’t have any aspirants. The position will be given to those who have been selected by the high command. If they given me a chance, I will also do it”, he said, expressing his desire to become Opposition leader.

Ashwath Narayan said the Congress is crumbling under the pressure of its own guarantees. “Let the Congress first start swimming. We had no urgency in selecting the Opposition leader”.

He further said, the Congress did not keep its word after getting the people’s mandate, by fulfilling the five guarantees. “The BJP will take on the Congress  both inside and outside the assembly. A massive protest will be held at Freedom Park on July 4 under the leadership of B S Yediyurappa to pressure the government to fulfill the guarantees, with the slogan ‘Stop cheating and implement the guarantees”, Ashwanth Narayan added.

He pointed out that the Congress government is pushing the dates for implementing the schemes  and imposing conditions on the guarantees. “They did not say that the 10 kg rice they promised included the central government’s 5 kg rice for ‘Anna Bhagya’ scheme. They just announced that they will give 10 kg of rice, so they must give 10 kg of rice”, he said.

“The government should be give 200 units of free power without any conditions. Let them charge for the power consumption exceeding 200 units. But why take an average of 10 months? They should provide 200 units as mentioned in manifesto”, former Deputy CM added.

“The Congress also promised that it would give Rs 2,000 to each women under Gruha Lakshmi Yojana, but it led to fight between family head and daughter-in-law. Everything should be given as they promised”, he insisted.
