BENGALURU: An administrative officer at the Income Tax officer in Koramangala fell victim to a scam involving a fake parrot astrologer, and ended up losing Rs 35 lakh worth of gold and silver ornaments.
The officer had approached the astrologer, Shekhar, seeking help with a transfer. Shekhar, who claimed to have astrological powers, took Rs 50,000 for a puja and later asked for more valuables, promising to return them soon.
However, Shekhar disappeared with the officer’s belongings, including 194 grams of gold and 1.3 kg of silver. The officer has filed a complaint with the Bharatinagar police, who are now on the lookout for the accused.
