Huli vesha dancer sustains injuries while performing back flips

The youth landed on his head while performing a back flip and double somersault.

MANGALURU: A youth performing tiger masque dance (huli vesha/pili vesha) sustained injuries to the head and neck during a performance at the Mangaladevi temple here on Monday.

A group from Mullihitlu was performing huli vesha dance before the deity when one of the youths who was doing back flips hit the ground while doing double somesaults in the air, and hurt his head and neck.

He was immediately rushed to hospital where he is out of danger and is undergoing treatment. He had been practicing for the last few years and had reportedly taken a vow and hence, was performing in front of the deity.
