BENGALURU: The National Highway 44, which connects Bengaluru to Hosur in Tamil Nadu, was severely affected due to continuous rainfall in the region over the past two days. The service road along the highway at Neralerahalli near Hosur was inundated on Tuesday after Monday night’s rain.

A truck was partially submerged in the water, and vehicles were finding it difficult to navigate through the flooded road. The underpass in the area was also flooded, making it impossible for vehicles to cross the road.

The situation, which has resulted in waterlogging on the highway, was attributed to the heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu. The Bengaluru-Salem highway (NH 44) and the Salem-Kanyakumari highway (NH 544) were also affected due to flooding.

In Salem, the roads, shops and homes along the highway were completely drowned with water. Cars were seen floating in the water, causing inconvenience to many.

Citizens have expressed outrage at the authorities for their negligence in maintaining the highway.
