Hindu activists arrested for vandalism granted bail, received by ex-MLA outside jail

Former BJP MLA Amrut Desai greeted the Hindu activists after they were released from jail on Monday evening.

DHARWAD: A few Hindu activists, who had been jailed for ransacked the house of a man who had put up a provocative picture of the Ram Mandir, were received by former BJP MLA Amrut Desai after they were released on bail on Monday evening.

Saddam Hussain of Tadakoda village had posted a morphed picture of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir with an Islamic flag on top along with a picture of AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi and the caption ‘Islamic Power’, as his WhatsApp status. Angered by this, some Hindu workers had ransacked his house and vandalised an idgah wall in the village.

The Garag police had arrested some Hindu activists in connection with the case and they had been sent to judicial custody. On Monday, the Dharwad district court granted bail to the arrested activists.
