BENGALURU: Tomorrow, April 1, marks the beginning of the new financial year, and it’s going to be a pricey ride for people in Karnataka.
The toll rates on 62 national highways in the state are set to increase by 5-6 per cent. For instance, driving from Bengaluru to Mysuru will now cost Rs 355 towards toll fees. This rate increase will apply to all vehicles, and you’ll need to top up your FASTag accounts accordingly.
But that’s not all. The Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is also increasing water rates by 3 per cent from April 1. Domestic users will pay 1 paise more per litre, while commercial users will pay 1.9 paise more. Additionally, sewerage charges will go up, which means your water bill will nearly double next month.
The increased toll rates and water charges are expected to add to the burden on middle-class people who are already grappling with the high cost of living.
