KOLKATHA: Trinamool Congress leader Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay slammed Bharatiya Janata Party leader Suvendu Adhikari over his remarks against CM Mamata Banerjee and said that one needs to see if they are honest, before calling somebody else a thief.

Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay told ANI, “Who’s he? The one who took money in front of the camera, who’s he? One needs to see if they are honest, before calling somebody else a thief. Someone whose picture has appeared on TV while taking money, if such a person calls Mamata Banerjee ‘chor’ then he doesn’t have the right.”

Day after being suspended from the West Bengal Assembly for the ongoing Winter Session, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday went ballistic at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, calling her the “queen of thieves”.

Adhikari on Thursday said those labelling Prime Minister Narendra Modi as ‘thief’ shall not be spared.

He was referring to the protest by the ruling TMC members, led by Mamata, outside the Assembly on Wednesday.

To chants of ‘chor, chor’ directed at the BJP and PM Modi, the BJP members, led by Adhikari, countered with the same slur against the ruling party.

Speaking to ANI before leaving the Assembly on Thursday, the Leader of the Opposition said, “These thieves (TMC leaders) are calling themselves nationalists and patriots. Should we spare them for calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a thief? Mamata is the queen of thieves.” (ANI)
