CHIKKAMAGALUR: The district administration has imposed a ban on long-chassis vehicles like buses and lorries for five days in view of the upcoming Datta Jayanti celebrations at the Datta Peetha which will be from November 26 to December 4.
As per the order issued by district Deputy Commissioner Meena Nagaraj, all vehicles with more than 35 seats, including buses and lorries, will be prohibited from December 1 to 5. This decision has been taken as a precautionary measure due to the large number of devotees expected to visit the Datta Peetha during the celebrations.
The Datta Jayanti celebrations will include various events, including Anusuya Jayanti on December 2, a massive Shobha Yatra on December 3 and a special event on December 4, where around 20,000 devotees are expected to visit the Datta Paduka.
The ban on long-chassis vehicles is aimed at preventing traffic congestion and ensuring public safety. However, police and fire department vehicles will be exempted from this ban. The district administration has taken this decision considering the safety of the devotees and to avoid any untoward incidents.
