HAVERI: Putting aside their personal grief, the family of a schoolgirl, who died due to drowning, decided to donate her eyes.
The deceased has been identified Savithri Doddamani (16) a SSLC student at Janatha High School in Hanagal and resident of Gundur village. She had set out for school on Friday morning. However, she had drowned in the Aanikere lake and her body was recovered in the afternoon.
The body was taken to the Hangal Government Hospital mortuary for post-mortem. A case has been registered in this regard at the Hanagal police station.
The family of the girl decided to donate her eyes to the Nayana Netra Bhandara at Sirsi. The girl has brought light in the lives of others even in her death.
