BELAGAVI: The district health officials on Friday conducted surprise checks at 30 beauty parlours in the city based on complaints that they were providing skin care treatment and hair transplant without experts.
The health officials sealed 10 beauty parlours while the 20 others were issued notices. The raids were conducted by District Health Officer Dr Eshwar Gadadi on the instruction of district deputy commissioner Mohammed Roshan. The parlour staff were allegedly luring customers with facial treatment for which chemicals and steroids were being used, thus endangering their health.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Roshan told media persons, “Search and seizure operations were conducted at 30 locations under the KPME Act after the dermatologists association, Belagavi chapter, and other doctors complained about medical procedures like plasma therapy, hair transplant surgery and laser treatment are being offered and small outlets”.
“After getting a preliminary report, about 30 teams conducted the searches. The evidence will be placed before the KMPE court under the DC and legal action will be initiated. People’s lives cannot be put to risk as there are chances of people dying due to infections”, the DC added.
