BENGALURU: A day after Minister H C Mahadevappa said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will continue in the post for the full five-year term, Bangalore Rural MP and brother of Deputy CM D K Shivakumar, D K Suresh, said the former is more interested in other people’s work than his own.
“Dr H C Mahadevappa is senior, he knows what he has done to whom in different cases. I don’t know why Mahadevappa said this. He has retained his own political power. He is a very ideological person and works as a senior minister. He is more interested in other people’s lives than his work”, D K Suresh said sarcastically.
On his statement that he may not contest next year’s Lok Sabha election, Suresh said, “I conveyed my thoughts to the party leaders. The intention is that someone else should get a chance. There are many leaders and I am ready to work as a common activist. There is an opportunity for eleven more months and I will work towards giving justice to the people of the constituency. Party organisation is one part, and winning the election is another”, he said.
“I am satisfied with the work I have done. There are many leaders, and elders who have organised the party. They should be given a chance. I don’t have any disappointment, I am happy working with the people of my constituency. I did not feel like leaving my job”, he said.
On why he would not contest the polls, Suresh said, “Politics is not what it used to be earlier. It may suit certain politicians. People have no respect for politicians and it is not comfortable to work in such an environment. Moreover, I need rest”, he said.
“Others may have a desire for power, but I do not. I thought I should withdraw from the electoral fray”, he said.
