LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Swami Prasad Maurya on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP over a viral video from Muzaffarnagar purportedly showing a schoolteacher asking students to slap a fellow classmate.

Speaking to ANI on Saturday, Maurya said, “The hatred being spread by the RSS and BJP today has even reached schools. In a video that has come to the fore, a class teacher is seen asking a child, belonging to a particular religion, to be slapped by his fellow classmates. This is highly condemnable and I demand that the strictest action be taken against the teacher.”

“This government (Centre) treats such incidents as minor ones. Be it the urination on a Dalit or getting children of a particular religion beaten by people of other faiths, these are small incidents for them,” Maurya added.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said the government has taken a serious note of the incident and an FIR has been registered.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh has assured that the police were investigating the incident and action will be taken once the investigation is complete.

Reacting to the incident, the minister said, “In the state, everyone has the right to the same level of education and ensuring this is the job and the priority of our government. The Police are probing the incident and further action will be taken once the investigation is complete.” (ANI)
