BENGALURU: An iron grill on a roadside drain near the Chinnaswamy Stadium, which is hosting some of the ICC Cricket World Cup matches, has collapsed, posing a danger to two-wheeler riders and motorists. Citizen are blaming the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for negligence in carrying out repair work and feel that it may damage the image of Bengaluru as people from other states and countries come to the stadium to watch the matches.

While the government is talking about building Brand Bengaluru, the BBMP has not been able to fix roads and potholes in the city. Due to the broken grill in front of the stadium, plastic wrappers and bottles, disposable food containers are clogging the drain. A twisted branch of a tree was placed in the drain as if to warn motorists of the danger.

Visual artist Badal Nanjundaswamy, who is known for creating unique art on potholes and craters, created another art work with the twisted wooden branch that was stuck in the drain to mock the Palike. He fixed two large eyeballs on the two edges of the branch and tied white bunting to represent teeth.

Then, he uploaded the poster with two ‘before and after’ pictures on X and tagged the BBMP. The post went viral on social media, attracting the attention of thousands of people. Netizens were also dropping comments against the BBMP.
