BELAGAVI: In what seems to be yet another attempt to stoke the language and border row, miscreants have damaged a government vehicle deployed for the conduct of the winter session of the legislature at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudh here.
On Wednesday night, a vehicle belonging to the Karnataka State Co-operative Agriculture and Rural Development (KSCARD) Bank coming from Bengaluru was targeted with stones near the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha on the outskirts of the city, damaging its windscreen. The miscreants also tried to assault the driver of the Mahindra Bolero vehicle, and threatened him of life.
“A group of 5-6 youngsters flagged me down when I was coming here around 10.30 pm. When I slowed down, they pelted stones at the vehicle. They were speaking in Marathi and were talking about assaulting me. I then sped away and headed straight to the DC’s office where I slept overnight”, the driver Chetan narrated.
The incident occurred in Hirebagewadi police limits.
