BENGALURU: Five men, armed with knives and wearing masks, forced their entry into the house of an LIC agent at Bhuvaneshwari Nagar in Attibele and made away with valuables and cash after tying up and gagging an aged couple who were in the house.
The LIC agent K Devaraj Gowda, who was down with fever, was resting in his house while his wife Manjula was in their shop in the front portion of their house when five men arrived there around 1.30 pm on Monday. While one of them stood guard outside, four of them, wearing masks, barged inside the shop and forced Manjula into the house. The gang then bound the couple’s hands and legs with adhesive packaging tape and even gagged them.
The four then went about ransacking the whole house for about 40 minutes and took away 300 gm of gold jewellery and Rs 70,000 in cash. All the while, they held a knife at the woman’s throat and even threatened her that they would slit her huband’s throat if she raised an alarm. Footage from CCTV shows them escaping from there after the robbery.
About 20 days ago, the same gang had visited the house on the pretext of getting an insurance policy and had spend about an hour in Devaraj Gowda’s house when they may have plotted the robbery.
The Attibele police visited the spot and have registered a case.
