VIJAYAPURA: A couple and their two children were buried alive after the roof of their house collapsed due to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, on Thursday night. The incident took place in Moratagi village, Alamela taluk.
The deceased were identified as Gurunath Badigera (35), Jyothi Badigera (28), Kalamma Badigera (13), and Keerthi Badiger (9). The family was living in a rented old house as their own house was under renovation.
On Thursday night, the roof of the house collapsed due to heavy rain and strong winds, burying all four members of the family alive. Fire brigade personnel who arrived at the scene began efforts to retrieve the bodies of the four victims.
Minister MB Patil visited the spot and consoled the relatives. The wails of the family members at the site were heart-wrenching. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Sindagi police station who police visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
