VIJAYAPURA: Four people, who were sitting on a road median, died after they were run over by an unidentified vehicle near the truck lay bye on National Highway-50 on the outskirts of the city late on Tuesday night. Two motorcycles were also damaged.
The deceased were identified as Shivanand Choudary (25), Sunil Khanapur (26), Eeranna Kolhar (26) and Praveen Patil (30), all residents of Vajra Hanuman Nagar in the city. Two motorcycles, a Bajaj Pulsar and Hero Honda CBZ, bearing registration numbers KA 28 EZ 7126 and KA 28 W 9952, were also found damaged at the spot.
It is suspected that a truck, bearing number MN 12 QW 8521 had run over the four people. Vijayapura Rural division Deputy SP Girinalla Talakatti and other officials visited the spot. The Vijayapura Rural police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
