KALABURAGI: A college student sustained injuries after an iron rod from a BSNL mobile tower fell on her, in Ladlapura village of Chittapur taluk. The incident occurred when Suma Malkandi (19) was standing in front of her house.
Following this, an FIR has been filed against BSNL DM Phani Prasad, DGM Ananthram Choudary, AGM Girish Moolabharati and JTO Mohammed Jaffer at the Wadi police station. The mobile tower is inoperative and the case against the BSNL officials was filed for negligence.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a school teacher died when the lintel of their house collapsed on her, near Mahagaon Cross in Kamalapur taluk. The deceased was identified as Anitha Mathapathi (35), a teacher at Siddabharathi Vidya Mandir.
Anitha had returned from an event and sat down on the porch in front of her house as she was tired. She sent her son to fetch her mobile phone which was inside the house and by the time the boy returned, the lintel had collapsed on her.
While Anitha died instantly, her son had a lucky escape. A case has been registered in this regard at the Mahagaon police station.
