GADAG: Former legislator S N Patil (81) died at a private hospital in Hubballi early on Thursday. Patil had represented Shirahatti in the district.
Known for his simplicity, Shankaragouda Patil is survived by his wife and two sons, apart from a legion of supporters. The last rites will be conducted on later Thursday at his native Putagaon Badni.
Shankaragouda was a Congress MLA from 1989 to 1994 and had friendly relations with leaders from all parties.
