BENGALURU: Former minister B Nagendra, who has been arrested in the Maharshi Valmiki ST Development Corporation Scam, was on Monday sent to judicial custody till August 3.

He was then taken to the central prison in Parappana Agrahara. The Enforcement Directorate had arrested Nagendra in the alleged scam in the corporation earlier this month and had been granted custody of Nagendra twice for questioning till July 22.

He was produced before a court today which sent him to judicial custody. Nagendra had resigned at ST Welfare minister after the alleged scam came to light.

Meanwhile, special public prosecutor Prasannakumar sought a body warrant against another accused, Satyanarayana Verma, who was sent to judicial custody only two days ago. Verma had made allegations against Nagendra and the SIT constituted by the state government.

Verma’s lawyer pleaded with the court to ensure medical treatment for him as he already has a stent implanted. The court asked for him to be produced tomorrow.
