KARWAR: A former city corporation member and history sheeter, who was out for a walk on Sunday morning, was stabbed to death with a knife on Kamalakar Road near the BSNL office in Karwar city.
The deceased Satish Kolambkar, a resident of Padmanabha Nagar in Karwar, was involved in real estate and contract work. He had over nine cases against him.
According to sources, Kolambkar had borrowed Rs 2 lakh, which he had repaid a few days ago at the Premier Hotel in Karwar. When the lender demanded more money, an altercation broke out between them. Police source said that the group may have murdered him over old rivalry.
According to Kolambkar’s daughter, Nitesh Tandel and Darshan were involved in the murder. The district police superintendent stated that the murder was due to financial and personal reasons. A case has been registered and an investigation is under way. The police claim they will soon apprehend the accused.
