BENGALURU: Major changes have been planned in the police system in the city with a proposal being submitted to create five police commissionerates on the lines of the five Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) zones.
It has been decided to create five new posts of Police Commissioner for North, South, East, West, and Central divisions under a Chief Commissioner. Parts of Bengaluru Rural and Ramanagara districts will also come under Bengaluru City limits. For the new system, a request has been made to recruit an additional 6,633 personnel.
