VIJAYAPURA: Five people were injured after a tin sheet canopy of the Ambedkar Bhavan, on which they were standing to watch a tractor tug-of-war, gave way under their weight at Basavana Bagewadi town on Friday night.
All the injured were shifted to a hospital when the condition of two is said to be critical. The injured are Siddu Vasanth Rathod (32), Ali Hajisab Mullah (22), Kiran Lakshman Rathod (22), Ashok Madar and Ashif Bagawan (17).
The Karnataka Rakshana Vedike and Geleyara Balaga had organised the tractor tug-of-war without taking permission from the police. The event was organised as part of the Basaveshwara fair. Soon after the mishap, the organisers fled the scene.
