Five, including woman, arrested in connection with 2005 Naxal attack on police camp

TUMAKURU: Nineteen years after a bloody Naxal attack on a police camp, which left seven policemen and a civilian dead, the police have managed to arrest five of those involved, including a woman, from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

The arrested are Nagaraju (40) of Gantimeri, Padma (35) of Dharmavaram, Boya Obalesh (40), Ramamohan (42) and Anjaneyalu (44) of Tamagiri. They were brought to Pavagada on Sunday night and produced before a JMFC court on Monday after a medical test. The police then sought custody for questioning.

On February 11, 2005, Naxals had attacked a police camp at Venkatammanahalli in Pavagada taluk, killing seven policemen and a civilian. The police had arrested several accused so far and have now managed to arrest five of them who were absconding all these years.
