Five arrested from Tamil Nadu for attack on DMK leader Alagiri aide in Bengaluru hotel

The aide of Alagiri was attacked in a hotel by a gang of five men armed with lethal weapons.

BENGALURU: The Banaswadi police have arrested five people from Tamil Nadu in connection with the attack on V K Guruswamy Murthy (55) of Madurai, a close associate of Tamil Nadu DMK leader M K Alagiri, at a hotel in the city on September 4.

Police teams had been camping in Madurai and Dharmapuri for the last two days and managed to apprehend the five accused. The attack was carried out due to political rivalry, police said.

Guruswamy Murthy had come to Bengaluru to discuss a some legal matters over a property issue. He came by flight last Sunday and stayed in Sukh Sagar Hotel in Banaswadi. The next evening evening, while he while talking to the broker about the property issue, five people, who came in a Tamil Nadu registered car suddenly assaulted Guruswamy Murthy.

Guruswamy Murthy was alleged involved in criminal cases from the time when he was 20 years old and would usually not appear in public because of a threat to his life. There was a lot of enmity between Guruswamy and others in Madurai.

The group of five people allegedly had a plan to kill V K Guruswamy at Sukh Sagar Hotel. It is suspected that information about Guruswamy staying in the hotel was leaked by his own people.
