Five arrested for honeytrapping techie

BENGALURU: The RR Nagar police have arrested five accused, including two women, on the charges of extorting money from a techie after honeytrapping and assaulting him. The accused are Sumalatha a.k.a Anjali, Harshini a.k.a Sweety, Jagadish, Lokesh and Manjunath.

The two women had called the techie to meet them. When he arrived at the spot, they demanded Rs 40,000 and assaulted him when he refused. They also snatched his mobile and threatened him. The techie escaped from the scene and called 112  following which the police arrived, arrested the five and recovered the mobile.

The women had previously asked to give Rs 20,000 and the techie agreed to give it. Later, when the techie went to the woman’s house, he threatened her and took away Rs 20,000.

Later, the same woman, with the help of her friends, called the same techie and took Rs 20,000 again and assaulted him. The techie filed a complaint in this regard at the RR Nagar police station. Based on the techie’s complaint, the RR Nagar police arrested five people. A city court has granted bail to the five accused.
