Fires break out in chicken shop, truck loaded with coconut peels

SHIVAMOGGA, UDUPI: A fire broke out at a chicken shop after LPG leaked from a cylinder, at Shivappa Naik Circle in Sagar on Monday night. Quick action by the locals averted a major tragedy.

As soon as the fire broke out, locals attempted to douse the fire with water and immediately informed the Fire and Emergency Services. The firemen managed to prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring shops and doused the blaze.

In a freak accident near Malpe in Udupi district, a truck loaded with dried coconut peels caught fire after coming in contact with a live power cable. Firemen immediately arrived on the scene and put out the blaze.

Locals said there are several houses, hotels and shops where the truck caught fire and if it had spread, the damage would have been extensive. The Malpe police visited the spot.
