HASSAN: A fire broke out in the paediatric intensive care unit (ICU) of the government district hospital due to short circuit on Sunday. The room was engulfed in smoke for a while. Acting quickly, the hospital staff moved the newborn babies shifted to another ward immediately.
The parents of the children were anxious for sometime as the ICU room was filled with smoke after a short circuit.
The health staff immediately shifted the 48 newborns to the ICU after breaking the window glass. Then, the hospital staff cleared the room of smoke, showing presence of mind and quickly responding to the situation.
“All the children are safe now”, said Director of HIMS, Ravikumar, after inspecting the hospital. He also requested that people should not heed any rumours. District Surgeon Krishnamurthy also visited the hospital.
