DAVANAGERE: A fire broke out in the midday meal room of a government school at Kadathi village in Harapanahalli taluk Harapanahalli taluk of Vijayanagara district on Tuesday evening. Fortunately, no mishap occurred.
A major tragedy was averted due to the villagers’ presence of mind after a fire broke out suddenly in the school’s midday meal room. People stood shocked for a moment watching. The incident happened around 4 pm on Tuesday and villagers were anxious as children were present in the school.
Villagers immediately sprang into action to extinguish the fire using locally available equipment. They alleged that the agency is supplying cylinders that leak. If the cylinder had burst, there was a high chance of harm to children’s lives. Villagers expressed anger against the gas agency. The incident occurred in Halawagilu police station limits.
