BENGALURU: A fire broke out at the cardiac care unit (CCU) on the first floor of M S Ramaiah hospital on Thursday afternoon. It is suspected that an electrical short circuit causes the fire. No one was hurt as the CCU patients were immediately shifted to another part of the building.
The hospital’s fire safety management team and two fire tenders brought the fire under control. Dr Anupama Hegde said no one was injured as all those in the CCU were shifted to another part of the building.
Hospital CEO Srinivas Murthy said the fire was noticed in the CCU around 1.15 pm and the staff immediately shifted the patients. “The fire was brought under control using the fire safety equipment with us. Power supply has been cut off in one section of the hospital and the patients have been shifted. It is suspected that the fire was caused due to an electrical short circuit, but we had taken all fire safety measures. None of the VIP patients have been affected as only three people were in the CCU at that time”, he said.
