BENGALURU: A massive fire broke out at a furniture store on Pipeline Road in Malleshwaram at around 2:30 am on Friday due to a suspected electrical short circuit.
The fire caused significant damage, with estimated losses of around Rs 5 crore. Fortunately, about 10 workers who were sleeping inside the store were alerted by nearby residents and escaped unharmed.

At least 13 fire tenders arrived on the spot and managed to bring the flames under control. The fire also spread to three nearby apartments. Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao visited the place and inspected the situation.
Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said, “Thankfully, no one is injured in the incident. But people are not giving priority to fire safety as much as required. Fire incidents are repeating in many places. Showrooms or any establishments are not taking enough precautions. People should understand first. Traders, those who are running showrooms, should follow at least basic safety norms”.
