Fire breaks out at coal conveyor belt unit at Kudgi thermal power plant

VIJAYAPURA: A major fire broke out at the National Thermal Power Corporation’s (NTPC) super thermal power plant at Kudgi in the district. Luckily, there was no loss of life.

The fire broke out at TP-2 when the conveyor belt carrying coal caught fire, believed to have been caused due to overheating of the bearings. The entire rubber belt went up in flames, but no one was injured in the incident.

The NTPC fire brigade managed to douse the fire.
