DAVANAGERE: Around a hundred acres of cultivated land in Echagatta village have been submerged in the water as the lake breached after sudden rain.

The lake breach has caused huge crop damage.

The village’s check dam gave way after the lake overflowed and a huge amount of the water stored in the tank overflowed. The tank has filled to the brim after four decades. The overflowing water flooded farm lands and ruined standing crop.

The quantum of loss has yet to be estimated. Affected farmers are hoping for relief from the state government.
