Contractor Santosh Patil's wife and mother petitioned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah seeking a CID probe into his death.

BELAGAVI: The family of contractor Santosh Patil, who had committed suicide at a Udupi lodge last April, leading to the resignation of then RDPR minister K S Eshwarappa, on Friday met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at the Belagavi airport and sought a fresh investigation into the death.

Santosh Patil had left behind a note blaming Eshwarappa for his death. After investigation, the police had filed a B report in the case.

On Friday, Santosh Patil’s wife Jayashree, their young son, mother Parvathi and brother Prashant met CM Siddaramaiah and said they were not satisfied with the investigation and sought a fresh probe by the CBI or CID.

Speaking to reporters outside the airport, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the family has petitioned him seeking a fresh investigation. “I wil speak with the police top brass and the law department and see what can be done”, he said.

The family also petitioned Deputy CM D K Shivakumar.

Santosh Patil’s mother Parvathi, who also spoke to the media, said, “We have petitioned the CM seeking a CID probe and the CM has promised to look into it. My son had told me that they had given commission to Eshwarappa, but the police filed a B report. My son did not get the pending dues and my daughter-in-law did not get a government job that was promised”.
