MYSURU: The practice of social boycott is still prevalent in Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s home district, despite the state government passing a law against it.

A family in Senapathihalli village of T Narasipura taluk was socially boycotted by the village elders. The family of Somu was boycotted due to a dispute over property distribution among brothers. Despite conciliatory efforts, Somu did not agree to the suggestions.

As a result, the villagers, including the village elders, refused to participate in Somu’s mother’s funeral. They even denied permission for the family to participate in the village deity’s worship.
