BENGALURU: With voting in the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha election having concluded on Saturday, exit polls have predicted a sweep for the BJP in Karnataka. The final results will be announced by the Election Commission of India on June 4.

After the Congress massive win in the Assembly election last year, it was expected that the party will fare better in this year Lok Sabha election. The party had won just one seat in 2019 while the JD(S) had won in Hassan and the BJP had won 25 seats. Sumalatha Ambareesh had won as an Independent candidate from Mandya, backed by the BJP.

However, several exit polls show the BJP doing better than the ruling Congress in Karnataka as far as the Lok Sabha elections are concerned. India TV has given the BJP 18-22 seats, Congress 4-8 seats and JD(S), which is in alliance with the BJP, 1-3 seats.

The Polstrat has given the BJP 21-24 seats, Congress 3-7 seats and the JD(S) 1-2 seats. The CNN exit poll has also given similar numbers for the three parties. The Jan Ki Baat exit poll gives the BJP 21-23 seats, Congress 5-7 and Others 0.
