Excise, election flying squad officials recover dry alcohol worth Rs 70 lakh in Raichur village

RAICHUR: Excise officials and the Election Flying Squad team arrested a man for illegally storaging of dry alcohol, popularly known as CH powder. The stash was detected during a joint operation and 850 kg of CH powder worth Rs 70 lakh, which is used for adulterated liquor, was found in Kadgandoddi village in the district on Saturday.

The alcohol powder was seized from the farm land of Tayanagowda and Narasaraju. The accused Narasaraju has been taken into custody by the authorities. The officials raided the farm on the basis of definite information and they recovered 32 bags kept in what looked like a a water sump.

The accused are already facing charges of preparing and selling adulterated liquor. It is suspected that the CH powder was illegally stored to be supplied to rural areas ahead of the Assembly election. Excise Department Deputy Commissioner Lakshmi Naik said she will recommend externment of the accused.
