CHAMARAJANAGAR: A wild elephant died after it came in contact with an electric fence near Mangala village on the edge of the Bandipur forest in Gundlupet taluk.
The elephant had strayed out of the forest in search of food and is suspected to have come in contact with a fene to which power was illegally drawn by farmers. The Forest department staff visited the spot and is conducting an investigation.
Meanwhile, the elephant menace continues with the animals blocking trucks carrying sugarcane and vegetables near Punajur on the way to Tamil Nadu from Chamarajanagar.
