HASSAN: A day after Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar bought Nandini products worth Rs 2,500 and distributed them among his supporters, the state nodal officer of the public complaints wing has directed the district election officials to look into whether there was any breach of the Model Code of Conduct.

D K Shivakumar purchased several Nandini products at a booth in Hassan and distributed it among party workers.

After D K Shivakumar made the purchase at a Nandini booth near Maharaja Park here on Monday, several pictures and videos had gone viral on social media. This came amidst a major debate over Amul’s entry into the Bengaluru market and calls to save the Nandini brand of the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF).

The letter to the district officials seeks explanation on whether there was violation of the Model Code of Conduct, but mentions only the party’s name and not Shivakumar’s. The state election authorities have sought a report from the media management committee in 24 hours.
