MYSURU, BENGALURU: Officials of the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) on Friday conducted raids at the Myuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), the tahsildar’s office and the Kengeri residence of Devaraj, the fourth accused in the alleged MUDA site allotment scam involving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife B M Parvathi.
The ED officials had issued three notices to MUDA authorities to produce the documents related to the allotment of 14 sites in lieu of acquired land. However, since the MUDA authorities did not respond properly, the ED officials raided the office based on social activist Snehamayi Krishna’s complaint.
The ED officials sought the original documents related to the case from 2004 to 2023. They also questioned the MUDA commissioner about how many sites have been distributed under the 50:50 sharing scheme so far. The ED officials also produced three letters by the former district deputy commissioner Rajendra on the issue to the secretary of the Urban Development Department on November 27, 2023.
The ED officials are expected to camp at the MUDA office for two days as they continue their checks of various documents and questioning of officials. A team of four officials were also present at the tahsildar’s office to examine documents related to the allocation of the sites.
At Kengeri, a team of four officials raided the house of J Devaraj, the fourth accused in the alleged MUDA site allocation case and questioned him. Devaraj had sold 3.16 acres of land to CM Siddaramaiah’s brother-in-law which was then gifted to Parvathi.
The officials questioned Devaraj how he had sold the 3 acres of land and how much money he had got in return. They also questioned him regarding in what form he had got the Rs 3.24 lakh towards the sale of the land.
