BENGALURU: A day after Deputy Election Commissioner Ajay Bhadhoo chaired a meeting of state election officials, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has issues certain directives to the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and the Chief Secretary.
The CEC has directed a thorough review of the electoral rolls in the disputed constituencies of Shivajinagar, Chickpet and Mahadevapura, complete review of addition and deletion of voter names, and extension of voter roll revision in these constituencies till December 24, 2022.
It has also recommended the suspension of BBMP Special Commissioner and Additional Returning Officer S Rangappa, Shivajinar and Chickpet constituencies in-charge K Srinivas, and Mahadevapura Additional Returning Officer and the Bengaluru City Deputy Commissioner and institution of departmental inquiry against them.
The BBMP has also named IAS officers from outside for voter roll revision — Priyanka Mary Francis for Shivajinagar, Dr R Vishal for Chickpet and Ajay Nagabhushan for Mahadevapura constituencies. Ujwal Ghosh will oversee the revision in BBMP limits, Ramachandran R in BBMP North, P Rajendra Cholan in BBMP South, and Dr N Manjula in the city limits.
Senior IAS officer Aditya Amlan Biswas will oversee the entire process while the CEOs have been directed to include accredited representatives of political parties who are accredited to carry out SSR activities.
