BENGALURU: A 57-year-old man committed suicide by jumping in front of a running Metro train at 5.45 pm on Saturday at Doddakallasandra station. The deceased has been identified as Navin Kumar Arora. He was running a food corner in JP Nagar, according to police officials.
The incident caused disruption in Metro services. Passengers were affected by the unexpected suspension of services for almost three hours.
Metro services were affected on the green line, and services between Silk Institute station and Yelachenahalli were temporarily suspended. Services on the remaining sections were available.
The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) shared the information on its official handle page, Namma Metro.
After services resumed, BMRCL apologised to passengers for the inconvenience in services. In the post, Namma Metro services said services were suspended due to the incident and resumed from 8:45 pm after a delay of around three hours.
Services have restarted between Yelachenahalli and Silk Board. BMRCL has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers on the green line.
