Drugs worth Rs 8.5 crore seized, five foreign nationals arrested in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: The city police have arrested five international drug peddlers in four different cases at the V V Puram and Jayanagar police stations in the city.

The V V Puram police nabbed two Nigerian citizens, identified as Lawrence Ezenwoke and Chukwunezim Onyekachi. The police raided their house and found different types of drugs, following which they were arrested. Police are interrogating them, and further investigation is under way.

In another case, the Jayanagar police nabbed three international drug peddlers. Further details are awaited.

“The Bengaluru South division police have conducted raids on drug peddlers in the city. We have a directive from the Election Commission to check on drug peddling. Four cases were registered regarding the sale of illegal drugs and we have nabbed five international drug peddlers in these cases. We have recovered Rs 8.5 crore worth of drugs from them. The visas of these peddlers expired long ago, and of the five, three were involved in earlier cases as well. The drug peddlers have brought a large quantity of drugs to sell. Further investigation is under way”, said Bengaluru City Police Commissioner C H Pratap Reddy.
