KOPPAL: Drug and substance abuse by youngsters, including children, seems to be on the rise in Gangavathi with many being spotted at isolated spaces taking in drugs and other narcotic substances.
The drug abusers are procuring sexual performance enhancers and sleeping pills from medical stores and getting a high. At various places, discarded syringes, empty strips of tablets and other items used in drug abuse have been found.
Despite the rampant drug abuse, the police, the child welfare officials and the district administration seem to have turned a blind eye to the social problem.
