BENGALURU: High drama prevailed at the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) headquarters when a group of activists staged a protest right outside the company MD Anjum Pervez’s chamber and dragged out sofas over alleged delay in accepting their memorandum.
Activists of the Namma Karnataka Sene on Thursday barged into the Metro office to protest against the death of a woman and her child after an under-construction Metro pillar fell on them two days ago, and raised slogans against BMRCL. Angry that there was a delay in accepting their memorandum, they dragged out furniture from the MD’s office.
Metro MD Anjum Pervez, who later received their memorandum, told them that investigation is going on into the incident and the cause for the crash will be known once they receive the reports. He also told them that he was not aware if the Brigade Road cave-in was due to the ongoing underground Metro work.
In the memorandum, the activists demanded action against those responsible for the Nagawara mishap, blacklisting of the contractor firm, CBI investigation into the issue and Rs 1 crore relief to the family of the deceased and a government job for one of the family members.
