BAGALKOT: Cricketer K L Rahul has come to the aid of a poor student from Mahalingapur in the district who wanted to pursue his education, but had no resources.

Amruth Mavinakatti, who had lost his parents at a young age, has received Rs 75,000 from the cricketer to fund his education. Amruth had secured 571 marks in PUC II from the SRA College in Banahatti, but was faced with financial issues to continue his education. He spoke about it to his acquaintance Nitin who put him through to Manjunath Hebasur, a social worker in Hubballi. Manjunath, in turn, contacted one Akshay, who ensured financial help from K L Rahul.

Amruth Mavinakatti will now pursue his BCom course at KLE institution along with coaching for the Chartered Accountant (CA) course. The cricketer deposited Rs 75,000 directly into Amruth’s bank account and has promised to fund his education for the next three years too.

Amruth is thrilled that he can continue his education and he and his family members have thanked Akshay and Manjunath who came to his aid. Amruth lost his parents at a young age and is being taken care of by his uncle and aunt.
