Doctor drowns in sea while trying to save friend stuck in rocks

Dr Asheek Gowda died at the Someshwara beach while trying to save a friend.

MANGALURU: A doctor, who had gone for a stroll on the Ullal beach along with four of his friends, lost his life while trying to save one of them, on Sunday night. His body was found today morning.

Dr Asheek Gowda (30), who hailed from Ramanagara, was doing his internship at a private hospital in the city. He had gone to Someshwara beach at Ullal along with him friends and had climbed the Rudrapade.

Dr Asheek Gowda’s body was found on Monday morning near the Rudrapade.

Dr Pradeep, who was with the group, lost his footing and fell from the rocks. While holding on to the rocks, Dr Pradeep called out for help. Hearing his screams, Dr Asheek Gowda tried to rescue Dr Pradeep, but slipped and fell into the sea.

Dr Pradeep somehow managed to come up with the help of rocks. He then told the police what had happened. The Ullal police have registered a case.
