Doctor assaulted, threatened to pay weekly protection money in Kalaburagi village

Dr Shankar Narayan was assaulted and threatened by three men who came posing as patients.

KALABURAGI: A private doctor was allegedly assaulted and threatened to pay up hafta (protection money) every week at Ravoor village in Shahbad taluk. The victim has been identified as Shankar Narayan, hailing from West Bengal.

Three men — Moula, Mohsin and Chotu Miyan — went to Shankar Narayan’s hospital claiming to have pain in the stomach and for blood pressure when they threatened him and warned him that they would not allow him to live in the village if he did not pay up hafta.

The trio also assaulted Shankar Narayan and snatched Rs 12,000 from him before fleeing. The Wadi police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the attackers.
