The incident has caused embarrassment for the state government, especially with the upcoming legislative session. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed the Home Department to submit a report on the matter, and disciplinary action is expected against Ramachandra Rao.The government may send the video to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for verification.
The officer has denied the allegations, claiming the video is edited or morphed. Rao claims the video is fabricated and AI-generated, stating it’s a conspiracy to tarnish his image. He also said the video is eight years old, from the time when he was posted in Belagavi.
Ramachandra Rao’s stepdaughter Ranya Rao is currently in jail for a gold smuggling case, and he was previously sent on compulsory leave in connection with the case.
