BENGALURU: Several parts of the state, including Bengaluru, witnessed light showers on Thursday due to the effect of the depression in the Bay of Bengal. In Bengaluru, there was a light drizzle right from morning till late into the afternoon and the weather is expected to remain so for the next two to three days.
The weather department has sounded a yellow alert for nine districts including Tumakuru, Chitradurga, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban, Kolar, Ramanagara, Kodagu, Mysuru and Chamarajanagar. These districts are expected to witness thunder showers.
The Met department said moderate rain is likely in many parts of south-interior Karnataka and parts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada. Dry weather will prevailin north-interior Karnataka.
Several districts of neighbouring Tamil Nadu witnessed heavy rain on Thursday. This comes close on the heels of the effects of Cyclone Fengal. Schools were closes in 11 districts of that state due to the rain.
